The Fermi Paradox asks why humanity has not detected clear evidence of extraterrestrial civilizations despite the vast number of stars, planets, and potentially habitable environments in the universe.
The Planetarium Hypothesis suggests that the lack of evidence might not be entirely natural. It proposes that observations, signals, or other signs of extraterrestrial life could be intentionally hidden, filtered, or made to appear absent.
The Core Idea
The hypothesis proposes that a sufficiently advanced civilization could manipulate information on a vast scale, control what other civilizations detect, or create convincing artificial impressions of cosmic emptiness.

However, the Planetarium Hypothesis focuses specifically on the possibility that extraterrestrial civilizations are being concealed, rather than claiming that all existence is a simulation.
Criticisms of the Hypothesis
A major criticism is that the idea is difficult, if not impossible, to falsify. If every observation can be explained as part of an illusion or concealment system, there may be no clear result that could disprove the hypothesis.

Researchers generally examine explanations based on astrophysics, biology, the rarity of intelligent life, the limits of interstellar communication, civilization lifetimes, and the difficulty of detecting distant signals.
The hypothesis remains useful as a thought experiment because it highlights the limits of observation and the assumptions involved in interpreting the silence of the universe.
